Business and Dad Life Balance

by Charles · Oct 5, 2021

If you’re a working dad or have your own business and wish that you could strike the perfect balance between your work life and your family life, you’ve come to the right place. As listed below is a guide to balancing both important aspects of your life.

Turn your phone off at mealtimes:

Mealtimes are an important time of day when your family can come together to enjoy each other’s company and to engage in fun conversation, For this reason, it’s a great idea to switch off your phone to enjoy family breakfasts and dinners and to be fully present during meal times.

You may even want to start a tradition of making and enjoying pancakes with your kids every weekend, that your kids will look forward to. If you like this idea, you can even carefully shape your pancakes so that they resemble Mickey Mouse’s head. Or you can create smiley face-shaped pancakes by using bacon as your smiley face’s mouth and banana as your smiley face’s eyes.

Set up a home office:

One way to be more productive so that you’ll be able to spend more time with your partner and kids is to set up a proper home office. Where you’ll be able to get work done, without being distracted or without having to pull log extra hours at your normal office. When it comes time to select a room to transform into your home office, opt for one that is ideally located far away from your family’s main living space. So that you will be less likely to be distracted by your family socializing.

Ensure to spend one on one time with your kids:

As well as spending time as a family unit with your partner, it’s also critical to spend one on one time with your kids. So that you get to know each other on a more personal level. Remember that your kids will cherish the time which they get to spend alone with you.

Turn up to the events that your kids invite you to:

Even if you think it may not be important to attend every sports game, concert, or dance recital, it’s important to turn up to events that your children invite you to. As it may mean a lot to them and they are unlikely to invite you to an event unless they really want you to turn up. As believe it or not, your children are well aware of how busy you are with work and are appreciative of any attention which you give them.

Work on procrastinating less:

One way to free up time to spend with your family is to work on procrastinating less. As the quicker that you get through your daily work tasks, the sooner that you’ll be able to turn your work phone off and to relax or have fun with your family.

So if both your business life and your family life is important to you and you are trying to find the perfect balance between both aspects of your life, it’s well worth practicing the tips listed in the handy article above.
